My internship experience in ITJuana

The experience in this project has been amazing since the beginning. I realize I can be a good team member and rapidly learn. At the pass of the time, I have become more confident about my technical and teamwork capabilities.

“The atmosphere at Tijuana makes my shyness disappear due to the new ideas and suggestions are always welcomed.”

I am to grow professionally and learn more to overcome new challenges. I am really happy to have the opportunity to work on projects to support people’s life, even if they do not even know I was involved. I hope to keep working on projects that help people as well as keep pushing me further.

  • In one word: what does it mean to be an intern at ITjuana?

Opportunity. For me, this is the best word to describe what ITjuana means. They offer me the opportunity to prove to them and myself that I can tackle new challenges and become better either as a person and professional.

  • Why software engineering?

Because I like the idea that if you can imagine a solution to any problem you can make it by yourself on a computer. You can make a system or application to help people in need, in terms of health or even economy.

  • Being a woman and software engineer. What are the challenges?

One of the most difficult challenges is inequality. In this region it is hard to see a woman in these areas, that may be the reason we are often underrated, but as more women are getting involved, we are showing our passion and capability.

  • What would you tell to youth about getting involved in STEM?

I think they are very interesting because you always learn and discover something new. By STEM, you can learn more about how things work and can be used to improve something else. Every day we are surrounded by technology that works thanks to these areas.
